South Africa vs Australia: Rain Halts Day 5 as Proteas Chase Series-Leveling Win

Rain denied South Africa a fast finish on the final day of the second Test against Australia at St George's Park, washing out the entire morning session in Gqeberha on October 22.
Australia, following on, reached lunch at 156 for 4 in their second innings, still 170 runs behind South Africa's 425 for 9 declared. The Proteas need six wickets to level the series after losing the first Test by 214 runs in Durban.
Travis Head was Australia's lone fighter, unbeaten on 87 after the visitors collapsed to 99 all out on day four. Marco Jansen's 5 for 33 did the main damage in the first innings, while Simon Harmer took 2 for 47 in the second. Steven Smith was forced down the batting order by a neck problem but is expected to bat. South Africa also lost Anrich Nortje to a suspected groin injury.
Josh Hazlewood said Smith "looks better today" and will bat at some stage. The forecast suggests the weather will improve in the afternoon, but Australia's draw hopes got a helping hand from the morning squalls. The third and deciding Test begins at Newlands in Cape Town on October 27.
