South Africa vs Australia Score: South Africa Crush Australia by an Innings and 31 Runs to Level Series 1-1

South Africa crushed Australia by an innings and 31 runs in the second Test at St George's Park, Gqeberha, levelling the three-match series 1-1 and setting up a decider in Cape Town.

Chasing South Africa's 425 for 9 declared, Australia were skittled for 99 in the first innings — forced to follow on for only the third time since 1988 — and then dismissed for 295 in the second, still 31 runs short. It was Australia's first innings defeat since 2023.

Captain Temba Bavuma was the hero with a career-best 179, sharing a record 183-run eighth-wicket stand with Simon Harmer (82) — South Africa's highest for that wicket in Tests. Marco Jansen smashed 85 and took six wickets in the match, while Kagiso Rabada claimed 4 for 77 on the final day. For Australia, Travis Head's brave 121 and nightwatchman Scott Boland's 166-ball 40 only delayed the inevitable.

The result shook up the World Test Championship table: Australia remain top but their points percentage fell from 81.82 to 75.00, with New Zealand second on 72.22 and South Africa climbing to third on 66.67. The series decider starts October 27 at Newlands.
