Steam Down: Gamers Locked Out as 'Loading User Data' Error Hits PC Platform

Steam Down: Gamers Locked Out as

Steam users reported problems logging into the world's biggest PC gaming platform on Monday, with many stuck on a 'loading user data' message that would not clear. Reports on Downdetector began climbing early in the morning, reaching around 240 by midday UK time, while another tracker recorded more than 300 reports within a single hour.

The outage appears limited rather than universal. Some players can still reach the Steam store and community pages through a browser, and SteamDB's unofficial tracker lists the store, community, web API and connection managers as operational, even as traffic to its status page surged. Both PC and Steam Deck owners reported being locked out of their game libraries, while others in the same region had no trouble at all.

Valve has not publicly commented on the cause, and it is unclear when services will fully return to normal for everyone affected. It is Steam's second disruption in a week after a brief outage on October 21. Players who cannot log in are advised to try Steam's Offline Mode for games that do not need an internet connection, or use the browser version of the store for browsing and buying.
