Stephen Curry Scores 44 as Warriors Beat Timberwolves 119-114

Stephen Curry turned back the clock in Minneapolis on Wednesday night, scoring a season-high 44 points as the Golden State Warriors held on for a 119-114 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Curry shot 11 of 27 from the field, hit six three-pointers and made all 16 of his free throws, adding eight rebounds and six assists in a performance that carried Golden State through a late Minnesota surge.
Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg backed him up with 26 points in just his fifth NBA game, and the Warriors looked in total control when they stretched their lead to 24 points in the second half. Minnesota, playing without star guard Anthony Edwards after knee surgery that is expected to keep him out for about two months, refused to fold. Jonathan Kuminga scored 20 against his former team, Jaden McDaniels and Terrence Shannon Jr. added 19 each, and the Timberwolves cut the gap to four points inside the final minute before Curry closed the game out from the free-throw line.
The win lifts Golden State to 2-3 after an 0-3 start, while Minnesota falls to 3-2 with a second straight defeat. The Warriors host the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night, and the Timberwolves host the Los Angeles Clippers the same evening.
