Tesla Robotaxi Hits 3.1 Million Driverless Miles as Four New Cities Join Expansion List

Tesla says its Robotaxi fleet has now covered 3.1 million miles of fully driverless driving, with no reported injuries in collisions where a Robotaxi made first contact. The figures, from the company's latest Robotaxi Safety Report, cover vehicles operating without an onboard safety monitor between January 22 and October 18, 2026. The report also records zero Robotaxi airbag deployments and zero pedestrians or cyclists hit in collisions meeting that first-contact definition.

Austin accounted for the bulk of the mileage, with 2,118,015 miles, followed by Dallas with 608,130 and Houston with 225,964. Orlando, Tampa and Miami added the rest, taking the fleet's total past 3.1 million miles. Tesla also reported about 862,000 miles driven after dark, 113,000 miles in rainy conditions and 575,000 miles during weekday rush hours, as it builds a picture of how its driverless cars cope with different conditions.

The report names Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Phoenix and San Antonio as upcoming Robotaxi markets, although Tesla has not given launch dates for the four cities. Tesla currently operates in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando and Tampa. The company itself cautions that its safety comparisons need context: its injury and pedestrian figures use a narrower first-contact definition than the human-driving benchmarks it compares them with, and the figures include cases where a remote operator was assisting or had taken control.
