Trail Blazers vs Lakers 136-129: Portland Stays Unbeaten as Doncic's 41 Not Enough

Trail Blazers vs Lakers 136-129: Portland Stays Unbeaten as Doncic

The Portland Trail Blazers handed the Los Angeles Lakers their first defeat of the season, winning a heavyweight battle 136-129 at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday night to stay unbeaten at 3-0. Luka Doncic scored 41 points for the Lakers, but Portland pulled away in the final minutes of a game that was tied at 121 with less than four minutes to play.

Doncic had 16 points in the first quarter as the Lakers led 38-32, and he caught fire again after halftime alongside Austin Reaves, who finished with 26 points. But every time Los Angeles built a lead, Portland answered. With Doncic resting on the bench early in the fourth quarter, Damian Lillard, Toumani Camara and Deni Avdija all hit three-pointers to put the visitors eight points ahead.

The Lakers fought back to level the scores, only for two costly missed free throws by Walker Kessler to open the door. Portland took a five-point lead, and when the Lakers needed one final stop, Lillard buried another triple to seal it. Avdija finished with 23 points and nine assists for the Blazers, while the Lakers slipped to 3-1 and now face the LA Clippers on Wednesday night.
