Trump Offers $1 Million Reward for Voter Fraud Tips Ahead of Midterms

US President Donald Trump has offered $1 million to anyone whose tip about voter fraud leads to an arrest and conviction, announcing the reward on his Truth Social platform on Monday, October 26, just eight days before the November 3 midterm elections. The offer covers alleged fraud in past elections as well as the upcoming vote, and Trump repeated it to reporters before boarding Air Force One for a campaign rally in Mississippi, calling it "a bonus or reward or whatever you want to call it".

The key condition is conviction: payment follows only after the people behind the fraud are arrested and convicted — a report alone earns nothing. The White House has not yet explained where the money would come from, which agency would run the scheme, or how competing claims would be judged. The announcement follows an earlier fraud-whistleblower programme launched with Vice President JD Vance on October 20, which caps rewards far below the new $1 million figure.

Critics, including voting-rights groups, questioned the timing, arguing the offer could deepen doubts about election results, while supporters of tighter election rules say stronger safeguards protect confidence in voting. The reward lands as Republicans fight to hold both chambers of Congress, with polling suggesting a difficult race ahead. Research into US elections has consistently found voter fraud to be uncommon, and voting by non-citizens in federal elections is illegal.
