US and Israel Planning Possible Attack on Iran in Early November After Midterms, Source Tells NPR

The United States and Israel are preparing plans for a possible attack on Iran in early November, after the American midterm elections, a person briefed on both countries' war planning told NPR on Thursday.
Israel had initially planned to strike Iran in mid-October, about two weeks before Israeli elections on October 27, but President Donald Trump objected, the source said. Washington is now amassing forces in the region to be ready by early November, though the preparations could also be aimed at pressuring Tehran into a diplomatic deal. Separately, The New York Times reported that the US and Israel have “developed specific plans” for a “short but intensive operation” targeting Iran's nuclear facilities, energy infrastructure and its arsenal of missiles and drones. The goal, one official said, would be to force “diplomatic concessions” by further weakening Iran's economy.
Iran says it is ready. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Iranian state media: “We are just as prepared for diplomacy as we are for war.” Iranian state media quoted a security source warning that any attack on Iranian officials or civilian infrastructure would bring retaliation against US interests in the region. The two sides have failed to hold a ceasefire since the February 28 war. Iran has blocked the Strait of Hormuz, targeting commercial vessels, while the US has blockaded Iranian ports and oil shipments.
