Wayve, NVIDIA and Stellantis Sign France Pact for Self-Driving Cars — First EU Rollout

Wayve autonomous test car

London-based AI developer Wayve, chip giant NVIDIA and carmaker Stellantis have joined forces with the French government to deploy self-driving cars across France and the European Union, announcing the pact in Paris on Thursday.

The deal combines Stellantis' L4-Ready vehicle platforms with the Wayve AI Driver running on NVIDIA's Halos operating system and Hyperion compute and sensor architecture. France will serve as the base for a new autonomous-vehicle ecosystem 'from silicon to vehicles' — fitting for one of Europe's largest ride-hailing markets, where a 2025 AI summit announced €109 billion in AI investment.

French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot said France is adapting its regulatory framework for autonomous vehicles 'while maintaining strict safety and data sovereignty requirements.' The pact also brings in trade unions, city authorities and mobility stakeholders so the transition benefits workers, communities and riders.
