World Series Game 4: Brewers vs Rays Tonight as Milwaukee Chase First Title

The Milwaukee Brewers are one win away from their first World Series title in franchise history as they face the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 4 tonight at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. Milwaukee lead the best-of-seven series 3-0 after routing Tampa Bay 10-1 in Game 3, and a win tonight would complete a sweep. Griffin Jax is scheduled to start Game 4 for the Rays, who are fighting to keep their season alive.

Game 3 was a demolition. Jackson Chourio went 4 for 5, William Contreras was 3 for 5, and Milwaukee racked up 16 hits to win their eighth straight postseason game and fourth in a row on the road. The history books are firmly on Milwaukee's side: of the 25 previous teams to take a 3-0 lead in a World Series, 21 went on to sweep and four won in five games — none lost the series. With a win in Game 4, the Brewers would also become the first team to sweep both a League Championship Series and a World Series since the 1976 Cincinnati Reds.

Milwaukee led the majors with 103 wins in the regular season, beat the San Diego Padres in four games in their division series and swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. Tampa Bay, who led the American League with 98 wins, swept the New York Yankees and beat the Cleveland Guardians in six games to reach the Fall Classic, but have never won a World Series in 29 seasons, losing to Philadelphia in 2008 and to the Dodgers in 2020.
